The District Chief for Sagnarigu Hon Mariam Iddrisu has assured victims of the Tuesday floods of government commitment to provide them with emergency reliefs’ items, reiterating that, the emergency relief items are underway.
The Sagnarigu District was heavily affected by the Tuesday floods.
Hon Mariam said, victims of the floods have been registered, “We have so far registered over 1000 people yesterday and the officials of NADMO are still registering victims today”.
She said, after the registration a report will be sent to the National NADMO Coordinator for a quick response from government to ensure that the victims of the floods are taking care of timely.
She hinted that, nobody will be left out when the relief items arrived, “All those who registered with the NADMO team will be taken care of”.
A high powered delegation from the presidency led by the Vice President Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia on Wednesday visited the flooded areas and later on commiserates with victims and families of the bereaved ones.
The fact finding mission from the seat of government aslo includes the Interior minister Hon Ambrose Dery, Defence Minister Dominic Nitiwel , Information Minister and Presidential Spokesman, Mustapha Abdul -Hamid, National NADMO Coordinator Nana Agyamang Prepeh, Northern Regional Minister Salifu and his Deputy Solomon Boar, District Chief Executive for Sagnarigu, Mariam Abdallah, NPP National Youth Organiser Salam Mustapha, NPP regional youth Organiser Alhaji Salifu Rashid COP, Regional NADMO Coordinator Alhaji Hindu, officials of NADMO and other important personalities.
The Sagnarigu DCE who speaking to savannanews24.com at the funeral grounds of the late Hajia Fatima Bapuni , said, she prays that what on Tuesday never happen.
She therefore on behalf o f the District expressed her deepest and solemn condolences to the bereaved family and urged them continue praying for the late Hajia Fati.
