Windstorm “Tinazinnya” destroys many homes, leaves hundreds homeless in Northern Region

More than 200 people are current homeless after a violent Windstorm that swept through some parts of the Northern Region yesterday.

The affected areas include, Sagnarigu Municipality, Tamale Metro, Kumbungu District, Savelugu Municipality and Gushegu.

The violent Windstorm nick named “Windstorm Tinazinnya” which started between the hours of 5pm to 6pm and lasted for almost an hour destroys several properties worth thousands of Ghana cedis.

The Windstorm uprooted many huge trees, took many metallic containers away and rip-off several homes.

A house was burnt down as a result of the windstorm in Daboashie, a village near Katarga in the Sagnarigu Municipality.

Many people were expecting heavy rains after an intense windstorm but the rain lasted for only 10 minutes.

The Katarga M.A Primary School was also badly affected by the Windstorm, where pupils of the school are currently studying under a tree.
The Headmaster of the School, Mr. Seidu Amadu told savannanews24 that, they will soon make a report to GES and for a positive response.

The Sagnarigu Municipality and Kumbungu district were badly hit by the Tinazinnya Windstorm.

Many communities are still plunge into darkness following the devastation of the Windstorm Tinazinnya yesterday.

Meanwhile, officials of NADMO are yet to visit the area of destruction.20180405_08192020180405_061928
