Stop traveling out of your jurisdiction unnecessarily – Minister warns MMDCEs Lansah Lolly:

The Northern Regional Minister, Hon Salifu Saeed has warned Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives in the region to stop traveling out of their jurisdiction but remain to execute government’s mandate for the people.

According to him, the rate upon which MMDCEs travels out of their jurisdiction especially to Accra is alarming, stressing that, the habitual and unnecessary travels by MMDCEs thwarts government efforts in bring the needed development to the people.

The Northern Regional Minister said, the MMDCEs will be monitored to ensure that they remain in their areas to implement government initiatives for the benefits of the people.

“The Traveling to Accra without announcing and all those things have to be stop and now, we are going to reduce the rate at which we travel so that you can concentrate and see to the effective of the full implementation of government policies and programmes”. He charged

Hon Salifu Saeed who sounded the word of caution at the signing of the Performance Contract between the Local Government Ministry and MMDAs in the region, noted that, he will not allow anybody to derailed the work of government in achieving its social contract and mandate with the people of Ghana.

“We have come to realize that even though I’m looking very soft but I’m not going to allow anybody to derailed the work of government especially sometimes when they are holding meetings of various flagship of programmes of government… we want to see you the MMDCEs taking the lead role… we want to see you in your district, your electoral areas, zonal areas within you assembly level taking the lead to monitor and also coordinate and supervise the effective implementation of the interventions either by the government or development partners”. He emphasized

The Northern Regional Minister again made a passionate appeal to the Coordinating Directors at the various assemblies to bring the expertise on board and collaborate with their Chief Executive to deliver the government.

“Please I will also want to appeal to the technocrats especially the coordinating directors for you it is base on your expertise… your long service that you have been made head of the districts so therefore you cannot say you don’t know or you don’t have the expertise you only need to sit up and also monitor because the MMDCEs sometimes they are so  busy…. the decentralize heads of department within the metropolitan, municipal and districts level like education, health, agric and the rest….you need to ensure close tracking and monitoring of their activities because you know them better”.
