Information gathered by the savannanews24.com has indicated that some Council of Elders of the NPP in the Northern Region want the incumbent NPP Regional Chairman, Mr. Mohammed Adam Baantimah Samba to go unchallenged in the upcoming Regional elections of the party.
Though the party is yet to set-up a date for the Constituency and Regional Executives elections, however, the Council of Elders believed that Mr. Samba has shown much leadership and therefore should be given another opportunity to lead the party for a second term.
According to them, Chairman Samba has not only make the NPP attractive to all but the cohesiveness among the rank and file is solid.
“The NPP is becoming more attractive to the people in the Northern Regions because of the hard work of Samba”. An Elder speak on anonymity
He said Mr. Samba has transformed the party to an extent that the Northern Regions is becoming a stronghold of the NPP, hinting that, the party in the last elections has seen unprecedented numbers of people from other political parties especially the NDC defecting to the NPP. “And these are signs of good leadership”. He said
“As a member of the Council of Elders of the NPP, my duty is to advise and guide and not to choose a candidate for the rank and file of the party. However, I have my own opinion but the opinion of the party is supreme”. NPP elder stated
Another NPP Elder on anonymity said, “for the first time in the history of the party we have more seats than NDC. So for me, Samba and his executives have performed marvelously well and they deserve our commendations”. “Samba is still very young and deserved a second term. And I will most definitely give him my blessings”. He added
Meanwhile, some NPP youth in the region are currently championing the bid of Mr. Adam Samba affectionately called “Chairman Do All” to go unopposed.
Mr. Mohammed Adam Baantimah Samba, a first-timer on 28th April 2018 beat the incumbent maverick Regional Chairman, Mr. Daniel Bugri Naabu in a fierce regional contest to become the youngest NPP Northern Regional Chairman.
Mr. Adam Samba against all-odds at the elections polled 312 votes while the incumbent Mr. Naabu got 116 votes.
Mr. Adam Samba before his election was a financier of the NPP.
