New bridge for Singa Community Abdul Razak



Singa, a farming community in the Kumbungu District of the Northern Region located across the White Volta will be given a bridge to link the area to rest of the district.

The area has been cut-off from the entire district due to the lack of access bridge at the Nawuni river (White Volta) to connect the area to the rest of communities.

The only way one the reach the community is through canoes, however it is very difficult to cross the river during the raining season.

The District Chief executive of Kumbungu, Hon Abdul Fatawu Abdul Salam in a visit to the community assured the people of the Singa and its surrounding areas of government commitment of building a huge bridge to link the place to rest of the district.

He said, the construction of the bridge will improve the livelihoods of the people as will it opened up business opportunities among the surrounding communities.

The DCE who made this revelation together with some members of the assembly in a familiarization tour to the area, urged members of the community to take advantage of the initiatives of the NPP government.

He said the planting for food and jobs programme is another good pro poor policy of the government to improve the lot of the farmer and therefore called on farmers in the area get register to benefit from the programme.

Hon Abdul Salam hinted that, the one village and one dam programme will begin after the raining season this year.IMG_0381

The Kumbungu DCE promised to furnish the primary and the JHS in the Singa community with chairs, again the assembly will motivate teachers and health workers who will accept postings to the community.

Hon Abdul Salam assured teachers and health workers of the assembly preparedness to address some of pertinent issues that affect their work. “We are running an open door policy at the assembly, we there to save the district”.

He therefore charges them to work hard for the benefit of the entire district.
