The Monetary and Evaluation Manager for the Ghana Federation of Disability Organization(GFD), Mr Moses Fordjour says the federation has setup networks across the country to help augment the predicament of disability persons at the local level and to have an inclusive society for all.
At a workshop on resources mobilization and operational framework for the Northern region disability network, he conceal that the Ghana federation of disability organisations(RDN) being the mother body of the ten regions networks aims to support the disability movement, and advocate the fundamental human rights of persons with disabilities.
According to him it will formulate proposals to promote inclusive society for all persons with disabilities within the regions.
The regional networks according to him has involve like minded organizations to help sensitize persons with disabilities on their rights and to educate them on laws that regulate their lives as well as on the available opportunities in societies.
Mr Moses stated that the disability federation will engage decision makers and other relevant stakeholders for the purposes of mainstreaming disability issues into regional and national development.
He appealed to government to center it’s mind to the disability act, and fastrack the implementation.
The Northern regional Chairman for people with disabilities, Mr Seidu Chantima on his part commended the federation initiative, saying it will facilitate their participation in decision making, and inure them have access to their needs without any hindrance.
Mr Seidu however urged the public to restrain from discriminating people living with disabilities, and consider their situation as the willingness of the creator of the universe which according to him any person can be a victim.
