Mr. Samba said, though the electoral fortunes of the NPP has increase over the years, however, the party has not been able to achieve its target of making the northern region a political world bank of the NPP.
According to him, the party in the last elections targeted 17 parliament seats but for the lack of efforts and coordinated leadership has made “our target” to fall short. “We added only three seats but that was not our target, our target was 17 parliamentary seats”.

The entire total votes cast in the region for parliamentary was 327,422 (58.06%) NDC and NPP 255,544 (41.94%) whiles the presidential votes was 521,850(55.35%) for NDC and 398,384 (42.25%) for the NPP.
But, the NPP Northern Regional Aspirant said, gains made in the 2016 elections were not enough, adding that, the task was to win additional 7 seats and wondered why the party fail to win Zabzugu, Tatale Sanguli, Karaga and Yagaba-Kubure constituencies.
