Multiple-award winning Chief Executive officer of Rigworld International Services, Dr Kofi Amoa-Abban has received the GUBA Black Star award for Young Oil and Gas Entrepreneur at the 2017 GUBA Awards held on Saturday.
The decision to award Dr Amoa-Abban was announced in May in a statement by GUBA, and the young entrepreneur is pleased that he has received such high recognition.
Dr Abban, prior to this nomination, received the award for the Most Extraordinary Entrepreneur at 2016 Tema Excellence Awards, the Rising Star at the 2016 Exclusive Men of the Year awards (EMY) and CEO of the Year award and the Oil and Gas Personality of the year Award at the 2016 Oil and Gas Ghana Awards.
The awards event was attended by many distinguished guest including the Minister for Tourism and Culture, Hon. Catherine Afeku; Deputy Chief of Staff to the President and Political Assistant (Ghana), Francis Asenso-Boakye; MP Dianne Abbott; Eugene Akwasi–Ayisi, Labour Party Cabinet Member Communities Haringey; GUBA Patron and Actor- Hugh Quarshie , Rahul Gopinath, Regional Director for AfricaECOM Agroindustrial Corp; Iain Walker – New British High Commissioner to Ghana and X-factor finalists Reggie N Bollie, among others.
A solidarity message from the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo was delivered personally in a video. He said he has been keenly observing the impact of GUBA and commended them for their effort to inspire and celebrate Ghanaian acheivers.
“I have been a keen follower of the activities of GUBA and I must say they have done a brilliant job especially in helping to consolidate the economic, social and tourism link between the UK and Ghana. We should all stand ready to support GUBA. The cooperation between public and private sector players will only help to steer on Ghana’s development as we seek to create wealth, prosperity and jobs for our people,” the President said.
