CLOGSAG happy over ISD director’s sack

The Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) has applauded President John Dramani Mahama for relieving the acting Director of the Information Services Department (ISD) of his post.

Executive Secretary of CLOGSAG, Isaac Bampoe Addo said on Adom FM’s Morning Show, ‘Dwaso Nsem’ on Thursday that the association welcomes the decision.

“He didn’t qualify to be there in the first place… he lacked the needed experience and qualification to be there so we are happy he has been sacked….,” he said.

Mr. Francis Kwarteng Arthur was relieved of his post on Thursday morning as part of the measures aimed at restructuring government’s communications.

The restructuring became necessary following the production of error-ridden brochure for the Independence parade to mark the 59th Anniversary of the country’s independence.

The unpardonable errors which included factual inaccuracies, poor spelling and awful grammatical expressions have exposed the country to public ridicule in the comity of nations.

Following pressure from the public, the now sacked ISD Boss in a press release called on Ghanaians to lay the blame solely on him for failing in his duties as a director of the government’s public relations section.

But the ‘admission’ angered workers of the ISD, who insisted the department had nothing to do with the production of the brochure, insisting the communications bureau of the Flagstaff House should rather answer for the errors.

A statement signed by Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah stated that the communication bureau of the Flagstaff House has now been placed under the Communication Ministry.

The CLOGSAG Executive Secretary insists Francis Kwarteng Arthur was imposed on staff of the ISD, and it was only proper that he be fired.

According to him, Mr. Karteng Arthur does not hold a Masters Degree in Communication or Journalism and also does not have the required 15 years working experience to be an ISD Director.

His appointment, he said, led to the building of tensions among workers of the ISD.
