Greed makes NPP in the North unpopular- NPP Chairmanship Hopeful

An Aspiring Chairman for the ruling New Patriotic Party in the Northern region, Mr Edward K Gumah says the elusiveness to make the party attractive and appealing in the North fellows the greed and self centered minds of some individuals occupying political positions.

According to him a political party can only be attractive to the masses at any jurisdiction and to the uncertain minds, when leaders are carefully scrutinize and elected into portfolios.

Mr Gumah speaking to Savanna24news said some of the current regional executives are greedy and adamant in the execution of the party activities, adding that “things are haphazardly done, people are quarreling over little things, jumping from head to toe, not knowing where to land and accusing people for their personnel interest.”

He expressed worried that some politician’s in the region are curtailing the grassroot and interested individuals from partaking in active politics, which he said has the tendency to thwart the fortunes of the party in the near future. “Many people in the north are not in politics because, they are been prevented by the party leadership, I will not do that when given the mandate to serve.”

He revealed that some people attempted to prevent him from being part of the vice president, the then running mate to president Nana Akufo Addo campaign team in the runup to the 2016 general elections, furthering that those individuals always feel discomfort when good people are taking centre stage in politics.

Mr Gumah was optimistic of not being greedy, and always ready to share and open opportunities to the teaming youth who don’t have the links at the helm of affairs to lobby for employment.

He said his vision as an aspirate is to bring people together, guard them to mobilize and proliferate the core values and ideal messages of the party through out the region.

He urged delegates to vote for a candidate who will not undermine any group of people, respect the views of party stalwarts and as well scale out measures to empower the youth.

He enumerated that “I am coming to serve, and not to be served, I am coming to support, not to be supported, am not a greedy person, am not also contesting to amasse wealth, when given the mandate I will make sure the party is deeply rooted in the region, and make it all Ghanaians party, and not southerners party.”

Mr Gumah said the grassroot will continue to wallow in difficulties, if the leadership of the party in the region are not change in the upcoming regional elections, demystifying further that leadership is like planting seeds on a fertile land.

He promised to construct regional party office, and hostile facility which will help accommodate branch and constituency executives who thus visit the metropolis for their personnel activities, if given the mandate to administer the party activities in the region.

Mr. Edward E Kumah in the runup to the 2012-2016 general elections was member of the Vice President, Alhaji Mahamadu Bawumia campaign team, and key member in the regional security council of the New Patriotic Party.
