The District Chief Executive of Zabzugu, Hon Ahmed A Iddrisu Adakwa has demystify the allegations that fertilizers for planting food and jobs meant for farmers are sold to only NPP members in the district.
The Member of Parliament in the area, Hon Alhassan Umar alleges that the fertilizers are locked up at the district Agric stores but sells to only members of the governing NPP.
Hon Alhassan Umar on TV3 morning show paper review program, Friday, again alleges that, the Zabzugu District have not received any chemicals distributed across the country meant to destroy fall army worms that invaded farms in the area.
But, the DCE for Zabzugu describes the MP as a liar who has not been fair with the people of the area, adding that, it is unfortunate for an Honourable Member of Parliament to sit on a national television to spew out lies about his own people. “For member of parliament to go sit on TV to tell the whole world that this fertilizers have been sold to card bearing members of the NPP is mark of injustice, mark of either incompetent and mark of not cross checking facts that he is churning out… it is highly unfortunate”.
He said, the Zabzugu legislator is not been economically with the truth but perhaps was guided by with political vindictiveness and propaganda.
Hon Adakwa said, the planting for food and jobs is one the flagship programmes of the Akufo-Addo led NPP administration to create jobs for the Ghanaian people not for some section of the Ghanaian population as suggested by the Zabzugu MP on the show.
He reiterated that, the programme is to increase food production and alleviate poverty in the area, adding that, the programme is to benefit the entire people of Zabzugu and not for NPP or NDC members.
He revealed that, the assembly has formed a committee made up of all stakeholders in the agriculture sector to take charge of the fertilizers, again, there have been constant monitoring on the activities of fertilizers sells.
The Zabzugu DCE said, the district received nine (9) articulator trucks fully loaded with chemicals and agric inputs for the Planting for Food and Jobs program, where they open the chunk for people to buy, “an official from the Agric Department has been in-charge”
He said the fertilizers has been subsidies, saying, instead of the paying for the 50%, the price is further divided in two, so farmers can pay 25% and later on settle the other 25%.
On the allegation of the fall army worm chemicals, the Zabzugu DCE said, the District Agric office has received the chemicals and was properly districted to the affected areas, “even at a time the chemicals got finish…. the District Agric Director informed me that he was going to Tamale to make requisition for the chemicals”.
He describes the allegations by the Zabzugu MP Hon Alhassan Umar as outrageous, malicious and figment of his imagination concocting things that does not occur in the district and therefore demands unqualified apology from him.
