The Northern Regional Secretariat of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has disassociated itself and strongly condemned the actions of the Kandahar boys for chasing the CEO of the Tamale Teaching Hospital, Dr. David Akolbila out of his office.

The NPP reiterated that, the conduct of the youth is a gross violation of the law which must be concdemned by all and sundry.

According to the released, the Party in the region views the actions of the Kandahar group as subverting the ethical principles of democracy.

“Democracy must have its integrated space in our politics if it has to thrive. This cannot happen if the rule of law is not applied. Not for a moment will the NPP in the Northern Region circumvent the law even if it is for a moral cause, let alone circumventing it for a criminal cause such the one in issue”. The Release said

The statement assured the police and the general public that the NPP in the region will not only cooperate with the security agencies but will assist in their investigations.

STATEMENT FROM THE NORTHERN REGIONAL SECRETARIAT OF THE NEW PATRIOTIC PARTY OVER THE ACTIONS OF SOME YOUTH GROUP AT THE TAMALE TEACHING HOSPITAL

Yesterday, the media landscape predominantly, radio and social media was awash with news about a rampaging youth that besieged the office of the C.E.O. of the Tamale Teaching Hospital and practically forced him out of office.

As if that was not enough, the keys to the office of the C.E.O. was also taken from him by this group.

The NPP as a political party is founded on the rule of law. The NPP as a political party, having produced two presidents is a beneficiary of the rule of law. To this extent, the Party in the region views the actions of this group as subverting the ethical principles of democracy. Democracy must have its integrated space in our politics if it has to thrive. This cannot happen if the rule of law is not applied.

Not for a moment will the NPP in the Northern Region circumvent the law even if it is for a moral cause, let alone circumventing it for a criminal cause such the one in issue.

We view the conduct of the youth as a gross violation of the law, a conduct that must be condemned by all. We will not shield party members who decide to frolic on their own by taking the law into their hands.

In this regard, we will not only cooperate with the police, but will assist in their investigations.

For the avoidance of doubt, the NPP in the Northern Region will NOT lend a “neighbourly hand” to any party member who engages in acts of criminality. The last time we checked, no one was above the law, not even the president!

Signed

Sulley Sambian

Northern Regional Secretary

New Patriotic Party
