The Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia has assured the Ghanaian public of the government efforts t of fulfilling its promises made to Ghanaians during last general elections.
According to him, the free SHS, the nursing allowance and the teacher-trainee allowance will all start September this year, adding that, the NPP government under Akufu-Addo is poised in taking the country to best of economies in the world.
The Vice President said, the one village one dam, the one district one factory and the one million US dollars to all constituencies in the country will begin concurrently to boost social growth and create more jobs for the Ghanaian youth.
Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia said this when he paid homage to chiefs and religious leaders as part of his maiden four day tour to the Northern Region.
He said the planting for food and jobs programme has an immense potentially of revamping the agricultural sector, create more jobs and put money on the packets of farmers.
Dr. Bawumia said, the NPP government within its 100 days has reduced the prices of fertilizers by 50% to enable farmers to farm large acres to expand their production.
The Vice President urged the chiefs and religious leaders to continue their efforts in bring about peace and harmony in the area, adding that, peace is the only requisite for development and without it there can never be development.
Dr. Alhaji Bawumia thanked the chiefs, religious leaders and the people for the overwhelming support they gave him, the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufu-Addo in the last general elections, saying that, the NPP couldn’t have won the elections without their prayers and support.
The Vice President starting his maiden four day tour to the Northern on Thursday where he visited Yendi and paid homage the Regent of Dagbon Kampakuya Naa Yakuku Andani Abdulai and the regent of Abudus Bolin Lana, he moved to Damongo the same day and paid homage to the Yagbonwura, the overlord of the Gonja Traditional Kingdom.
On Friday the President visited chiefs of Dagbon and religious leaders in the Tamale Metropolis.
On Saturday the Vice President received a rousing welcome by the people of Mamprugu when he paid homage to the Mamprugu Overlord, The Nayiri, Naa Bohugu Abdulai Mahami Sheriga.
VEEP Bawumia was accompanied by the Deputy Minister of Energy, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, the Northern Regional Minister, Hon Salifu Saeed, the Northern Regional NPP Chairman, Bugri Naabu, MPs, DCEs, and other party executives of the governing NPP.
