After residents of Dohanayili in the Tamale metropolis attacked some staff’s of the Northern electricity company (NEDCO) yesterday, electricity power has been taken off in the area including Fuo, Kukuo, Kpembeigu, Gumani and other nearby communities.
Workers of NEDCO were in the area to fish out illegal connections and serve some identified residents with court writ for illegally using electricity, but the youth of the area threatened officials of NEDCO.
According to the public relation officer of the NEDCO, Mr Alhassan Ababa revealed that, Dohanayili area youth confronted the NEDCO officials and threaten to attack them with catapults, woods and metallic objects.
Mr Alhassan said the youth deflected their vehicle tyres and further chased them away.
They again warned the NEDCO workers not step their foot in the area.
Mr Baba said, the electricity company will seek a legal advice on the matter and measures to resolve the matter amicable.
He denied the company sending military personnel to the area, and deliberately disconnecting them from the national grid.
He urged opinion leaders of Dohanayili to aid surrender the front liner’s of the bizarre act for their apprehension, and the immediate maintenance of the area faulted electricity.
Savanna24news, Ibrahim Nurudeen visit to the NEDCO office yesterday saw the visibility of joint security forces been stationed at the main entrance of the place, to avert possible attack on the facility.
The affected residents of those areas has since been living in darkness.
