The Municipal Chief Executive for Sagnarigu, Hon Iddrisu Mariam has commended military men and women at the Bawa Barracks for initiating a cleanup exercise in the Kogni Community.
The military together with the people of Kogni today embarked on a cleanup exercise to sanitize and beautify the Kogni community.
The Sagnarigu MCE who participated in the cleanup exercise urged the military to continue their support for the Municipaliy, adding that, the discipline and communal works of the military is worth emulating.
Hon Mariam urged the people of Kogni not to always wait for the military to initiate such moves, but also organise such exercises to clean their community.
She said, the assembly in consultation with chiefs, opinion leaders and the youth will soon initiate a cleanup exercise every Saturday in the Municipality.
Hon Mariam noted that, most of the diseases that affect the community are environmental sanitation related and therefore urged the people to keep their surroundings clean for the benefit of the community.
She also entreat the people of area to construct toilets in their houses, “It is not enough to clean your environment and later on indulge in open defecation”.
The Sagnarigu MCE announced that, as part of efforts to make the Sagnarigu Municipal the cleanest area in the region, the assembly will soon provide litter bins and other sanitary materials for a massive cleanup exercise campaign.
The Military Commander at the Bawa Barracks, Lft K Daapah thanked the Sagnarigu MCE for her support and urged the people of Kogni to at all times keep their environment clean.
The Assemblyman for Bawa Barracks and Kogni Electoral area, Padee Evans commended the military for taking lead in the cleanup exercise. “On behalf of the community, i thank our MCE for Sagnarigu for her support in this cleanup exercise”.
The Assemblyman said, the community will soon organise a massive cleanup exercise in the electoral area to replicate the examples of the military.
