Sagnarigu DCE commended for inculcating communalism among the youth

The District Chief Executive for Sagnarigu District of the Northern Region Hon Iddrisu Mariam has been commended for inculcating the sense of patriotism and communalism among the youth in the area.

 

Some Chiefs and opinion leaders in the area hailed the Sagnarigu DCE for showing an exemplary leadership.

This commendation came when the Sagnarigu DCE on Sunday joins residents of Kalpohini area to clean up the streets.

The leadership of the area in their commendations also pledges to support the DCE in her developmental initiatives.

The communal labour activities forms part of the Sagnarigu District Assembly intentions to rid the area of filth and desilt gutters. It is also intended to avert future floods in the area.

The District was badly affected when torrential rain got both the Tamale Metropolis and the Sagnarigu District flooded, a fortnight ago. A disaster that kills three persons, rendered hundreds homeless and destroys properties worth millions of Ghana Cedis.

Hon Iddrisu Mariam joined the youth of Kalpohini and its environs when they came out in their numbers to desilt a section of about 2 km stretch of tarred road in the area.

The DCE was seen busily and actively participating in the communal labour.

The communal labour which was initiated by the DCE seeks to inculcate communalism among residents in the district.

Speaking to savanananews24.com, Hon Mariam said, the communal labour activity was as result of an engagement with some youth in the area, “It is part of our resolved to find lasting solution to the perennial flooding in the district”. She added

She hinted that, the cleaning of the streets and desilting the gutters is the first step of preventing floods in the area adding that, the initiative will also promotes cleanliness and healthy lifestyles.

The Sagnarigu District Assembly among other tools, provided a tipper track to collect the silt which was used to fill various gullies that have been created by erosion at other places in the vicinity.

Hon Iddrisu Mariam who participated fully in the communal labour exercise commended the youth for the innovative move and therefore calls on other youth groups in the Sagnarigu District to emulate the examples of Kalpohini youth.

Some of the enthusiastic youth speaking to savannanews24.com thanked the Sagnarigu DCE for her leadership qualities and pledges their unflinching support for her to succeed.

The youth indicated that, they are overwhelmed with the enormous support of the Sagnarigu DCE, reiterating that, “We are very grateful to our sister, Hon Mariam for all the support we received in embarking on this all important clean up exercise”.

 

In another development, Hon Iddrisu Mariam supported another youth group with some bags of cement to floor a traditional utility spot in the area which was being used as a rubbish dumping place for some time now.

This was also made possible after they had engaged in a similar endeavor to clear the rubbish in the area.
