The Northern Regional Security Council (REGSEC) have lift the ban on all entertainment activities at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium.
The Tamale Mayor, Hon Iddrisu Musah Superior in consultation with the Security Council on 30th June 2018 placed an indefinite ban on all entertainment activities at the Aliu Mahama Sports stadium following a tragedy that leads to eight death on the streets of Tamale.
The tragedy occurs when Zylofon car crashed enthusiastic fans of the VGMAs award winner, Fancy Gadam, who were in a procession to welcome a Nigerian music artiste Patoranking bill to perform at the Aliu Mahama sports stadium. The music concert was dubbed Gadam X Patoranking.
In a Press release dated 26 July 2018 and the signed by the Chief Director, Mr. Alhassan Issahaku on belhalf of the Northern Regional Minister, stated that, following various representations made to the Regional Security Council to intervene in the matter of the recent banning of Entertainment activities at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium, the council has consulted the Metropolitan Chief Executive for Tamale on the issue.
“The Regional Security Council after an exhaustive consideration has decided to lift the ban that was placed whilst it allows the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly as the responsible for the regulating the Entertainment activities and related matters at the Stadium and any other public place”. The release said
The statement added “REGSEC wishes to emphasize that the conduct of any entertainment or related activity in the Metropolis requires the approval of the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly which is to regulate such activities in line with the bye-laws”.
