The Regent of Dagbon Kingdom and the Acting President of Dagbon Traditional Council Kampakuya Naa Andani Yakubu Abdulai has called on the government to straighten security in Dagbon.
He said, the security of Dagbon is still a huge challenge though the area is relatively peaceful.
According to the Dagbon Regent, the region is under develop due to the recurrence and pieces of violence conflicts, stressing that, resources that are meant to develop the area are been use to maintain law and order.
The Regent of Dagbon made this remarks when the Deputy Northern Regional Minister, Hon Solomon Boa paid a courtesy call on him at the Gbewaa Palace in Yendi. (Yesterday)
The Dagbon Regent statement also came at the wake of violence conflicts in the Agbogboshie Market in Accra between some Dagomba and Komkonba youth that leave 2 dead and several injured.
His Royal Highness the Kampukaya Naa noted that, the Northern Region has a lot of potentials that must be exploited to create more opportunities for the youth.
The Dagbon Regent said, the idling and lack of jobs for the youth has resulted in many disturbances in the area, adding that, if the youth are employed the tendency of creating violence will be halted.
He is however optimistic that, base on the initiatives and promise made by the President, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo the jobless youth of Dagbon will be employed in various endeavours.
The Kampukuya Naa therefore assured the government through the Deputy Minister of the Dagbon Traditional council support to bring about peace and development in the area.
The Deputy Northern Regional Minister, Hon Solomon Boa also assured the Regent of Dagbon of the Nana Addo led NPP administration of its preparedness to insure peace in the country.
Hon Boa said, the intention of the NPP government is to bring equitable development to every part of the country however there can never be development without absolute peace.
He said, the one district one factory is on course and government is making every effort to create more jobs for the teeming unemployed youth.
Hon. Boa said, investors are coming to the region to invest and this will further propel the region for many opportunities.
The Deputy Minister therefore called on the Regent of Dagbon to use his wise counseling to help the government succeed.
The Deputy Northern Region Minister also paid homage to the Regent of the Abudu Gate, where again called on his support.
The Deputy Minister was accompanied by the Northern Regional Security Coordinator, Divisional Police Commander of Yendi, the Regional Nasara Coordinator and other officials of the Northern Regional Coordinating Council.
