Ghana’s largest delegation ever to visit Canada attended the Global Petroleum Show, Stampede Park, Calgary, Alberta

The High Commission of Canada to Ghana in partnership with the Petroleum Commission and the Canada Ghana Chamber of Commerce led Ghana’s private sector participation to the Global Petroleum Show, Calgary, Alberta, Canada that took place from June 11-13, 2019. The Global Petroleum Show (GPS) is the most important energy expo & conference in North America attracting more than 50,000 international and domestic oil and gas executives from over 21,000 companies. This year’s GPS hosted Ghana’s largest delegation ever to visit Canada.
Ghana’s delegation was led by the Honorable Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, Regional Minister for the Western Region, Ghana’s High Commissioner to Canada, His Excellency J. Ayikoi Otoo, and the President of the Canada Ghana Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Jonathan Ane.
This trade mission showcased to the delegates Canada’s oil and gas expertise and capabilities and fostered business to business collaboration including joint ventures discussions and partnership explorations. In addition, relevant officials from key agencies under the Ministry of Energy participated. Institutional tours, training and sharing of best practices sessions were organized for state officials and discussions on potential partnerships, learning and exchange opportunities took place.
The visit by the Ghanaian delegation is expected to increase trade and investment opportunities between Canada and Ghana in the oil and gas sector that will create mutual beneficial outcomes.
