The Executive Committee of the NPP in the Northern Region has appointed Mr. Sule Salifu as its new Communication Director.
Mr. Salifu appointment follows a resignation of the former Communication Director Mohammed Issah, who moved to the newly created Savannah Region to contest for another political portfolio in the party.
Mr. Sule Salifu who is currently the Northern Regional Coordinator of the Youth Employment Agency (YES) was also a former Regional Secretary of the party.
Following the creation of the two regions out of the Northern Region, both the regional Secretary and Deputy positions were also left vacant as the Regional Secretary Mr. Sulley Sambian and his Deputy Mr. Haruna Iddrisu resigned and moved to the North East and Savannah Regions respectively to contest for political positions.
The party also appointed the regional treasurer Alhaji Sibdoo Yakubu to fill the Secretary position while, a substantive treasurer and Deputy Secretary positions has been put on hold.
According to the Regional Chairman of the party, Mr. Mohammed Baantimah Adam Samba, the executive committee of the party after consultations and deliberations appointed Mr. Sule Salifu because of his vast experience in the media arena and communication skills, adding that, as a former Regional Secretary ” he will bring more expertise for the party’s gains.
He hinted that, Mr. Sibdoo Yakubu filled the secretary position as part of party’s directive to get an executive member to fill that vacant position whiles the Deputy can be appointed outside the executive membership.
“We will appoint the Deputy Secretary and Treasurer in our adjourned meeting”. He told the Daily Statesman
Speaking to the Daily Statesman, the newly appointed Northern Regional Communications Director, Mr. Sule Salifu thanked the appointment committee for the confidence they reposed in him.
“It is another call to duty for our great party, the NPP. I would work diligently and bring my experience on board for the fortunes of the greater NPP”.
Mr. Sule Salifu is a founding member of the northern regional communication team. He was a TESCON Secretary 2001 and President 2002. He was appointment as the Northern Regional Monitory Officer for the School Feeding Programme in the erstwhile NPP Kufuor Government.
Mr. Salifu was elected the Northern Regional Secretary for the NPP in 2013 and become a national council member the same year.
When the NPP won the 2016 elections, Mr, Sule was appointed the Northern Regional Coordinator for the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), a position he still holds.
Mr. Sule Salifu lost his regional secretary position to Lawyer Sulley Sambian in the last Regional Elections of the party.
