My heart bleeds for Tamale flood victims-Minority Leader

The Minority Leader and MP for Tamale South Hon Haruna Iddrisu has expressed shock on the level of destruction cause by the Tuesday Tamale floods that claimed three lives, rendered many homeless and destroys properties worth of millions of Ghana Cedis.

The Tamale South Legislator described the devastation as heartbroken, ” my heart bleeds for victims of the floods. I am heartbroken “.

Mr. Iddrisu made this solemn assertions after he tours his electoral area to ascertain the level havoc cause by the Tuesday 4 hours torrential rains in the Tamale Metropolis.

The Minority Leader also visited some affected areas in the Tamale North and the Sagnarigu constituencies.

The sober and ‘heartbroken’ Haruna Iddrisu, affectionately called “the General” was speaking in an interview with at the funeral grounds of the late Hajia Fatima Amams Bapuni.

Hon Iddrisu urged the bereaved family not be despair but remain strong in the remembrance of Allah for the benefit of the late Hajia Fatima and the two children that lost their lives by the floods.

Again, he entreated victims of the floods to see this calamity as a will of God.


The Tamale South MP  attributed the perennial flooding in the Tamale Metropolis to lack of huge gutters to carried huge volumes of the water, “We have to construct huge gutters to avert this flooding”. He emphasized

Hon Iddrisu therefore called on the government to as a matter of urgency to  timely intervene and provide relief items to the victims of the floods.


He noted that, steps will be taking to work with the government to ensure that flooding in the metropolis became thing of the past.
