The Government of Ghana will later today, 18th August 2017 airlift items to Sierra Leone in support of relief efforts currently on going, following the mudslide that has left over 300 persons dead and about 600 missing in Freetown.
The items comprise food, medicines, clothing and logistics for the provision of temporary shelter facilities.
This was contain in a press release issued today, at the seat of Government and signed by the Information Minister and Presidential spokesperson Hon Abdul-Hamid Mustapha.
The Vice President Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia will also visit Sierra Leone tomorrow Saturday 19th August, 2017, to express the commiserations of the Ghanaian people to the government and people of Sierra Leone. The statement said
The releases also revealed that, His Excellency President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo few hours after the Tuesday mudslide in a telephone conversation assured the President of Sierra Leone, H.E Ernest Bai Koroma of Ghana’s support.
“The thoughts and prayers of the Government and people of Ghana remain with the people of Sierra Leone”. The statement concluded
