The Minister of Health, Hon. Kwaku Agyemang Manu in an engagement with the Christian Health Association of Ghana (CHAG) in Tamale, has revealed that, Ghana is likely to gain support from Germany and Japan with regards to our health sector.
He elaborated that, Germany and Japan’s investment in the health sector will encompass building more facilities to enhance health care delivery in the country.
According to the him, the focus of the country at the fundamental stage was on financial risk protection, concentration and more efforts on the delivery of primary health care.
He explained therefore that, CHIP Compounds were initiated to get to persons in the rural areas and serve the purpose of primary health care delivery. Adding on, he said that issues of financial risk protection in the health sector was resolved with commencement of the Health Insurance Scheme since 2003.
Hon. Agyemang Manu stated that, the Ministry of Health is working tirelessly to attract private sector investments into health care delivery systems in the country.
In another development, he stated that Japan is organizing a program this year in Tokyo focused on how to attract private investments in health systems across the globe, and in link with this Ghana is getting indications of recieving support via private sectors from Germany and Japan to invest and build more facilities.
He however, called for various means of partnerships with private funding in the health sector in order to enhance growth and development of the country’s health sector.
“We are encouraging and wailing to various means of partnerships with private funding to ensure that they also come and build facilities, bring in equipment, they can even train some specialized people and bring them in to see how they can complement our efforts” He said.
