The confirmed Chief Executive Officer for the Nanumba North district assembly of the Northern Region, Hon Abdulai Yaquob has charged on the people in the area especially leaders of the two feuding gates in the Nanum Chieftaincy crisis to give peace a chance.
According to him, finding a lasting solution to the chieftaincy crisis that has engulfed the area is now, saying that, the crisis has thwarted every aspect of development.
Hon Abdulai Yaquob who was speaking to members of the assembly after his 100 % confirmation, said Bimbila continue to attract media attention for some wrong reasons for decades and therefore urged the people to eschew violence and allow peace to prevail in the area.
“Our situations here make things difficult for us all, Bimbila has seen enough violence, blood share, gunshots and confusion, once we continue to kill ourselves, our district will continue to lack behind”. He said
The Nanumba North DCE said, Konkobas and the Nanumba ethnic groups are siblings, and not enemies and therefore urged the people in the area to vent their anger and energies in fighting poverty, bad roads and illiteracy.
Hon Yaquob said, he will operate an all-inclusive and open-door policy to fast-track development in the district. “I will be a district chief executive for all the people of our district, be they nanumbas, Konkombas, Chekosis, Kotokolis, Gonjas, Fulanis or any other tribe. All persons shall also be treated equally regardless of their chieftaincy affiliation”.
The Nanumba North DCE reiterated that, he has an ambitious vision to make the district the agricultural hub of the northern region and the nerve center of economies activities along the earthen corridor of the region.
Hon Yaquob promise to be firm and just in his doings and therefore called on the members of the assembly to give him the necessary support to bring development to every corner of the district.
The Northern Regional Minister Alhaji Salifu Sa-eed, who was a former DCE for the area, entreat the newly District Chief Executive to work assiduously to unite and bring development the people.
“You have today step into the shoe’s of the president, so you are father for all, you should not belong to any chieftaincy device, the president don’t want any of his appointees to mingle in chieftaincy matters negatively.” He admonished
He further appealed to the youth and the traditional rulers of the area to support the DCE and the assembly to bring development to their doorsteps.
