Dagbon will be forever grateful- Yaa Naa to Akufo-Addo

His Royal Majesty, the overlord of the Dagbon kingdom, Yaa Naa Mahama Abukari on behalf of the people Dagbon has expressed his profound gratitude to the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for bringing total peace to Dagbon.
According to him, the area is not peaceful but have received unprecedented development under the Nana Addo NPP regime.
Again, Dagbon have been unofficially became the second home of the President since he assume office in 2017, Mr. Akufo-Addo have visited the Northern Region more than any other region in the country.
The Dagbon Overlord, speaking at the sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of the phase 2 of the Tamale International airport said,  the people of Dagbon are forever grateful to the President and his government.“We do appreciate this efforts notable the projects in our region to mention is just a few, particularly the state of the art stadium in Yendi, the multi purpose sports center for the galant men and women of the armed forces, the interchange in our regional capital among others”.

His Royal Majesty, the Yaa Naa noted that, the projects are employing many youth in the area, “These projects are employing many youths with more yet to come to reduce the rate of youth unemployment in the country”.

Yaa Naa Abukari Mahama II urged the constructors of the various projects to engage qualified local personnel but warn would be employees to discharge themselves creditably, “work not only in the interest of dagbon but for mother Ghana”.
“We are informed that the expansion of the airport by QG construction UK limited in its second face will include state of the art hotels, shopping malls, restaurants, conference facilities and executive offices. We are also informed that the cargo handling facility for the export of fresh fruits, vegetables and other agricultural products would be developed. Several farm produce upon completion of the project can be directly exported from Tamale to reach clients timely and all parts of the world”.
“I also understand that, maintenance repair and overall facility would be within the hangout would be developed to serve as a regional aircraft maintenance hub, this would attract airline operators within the West Africa for maintenance and servicing activities”.

His Majesty the Dagbon Overlord said, the Chiefs and People of Dagbon are very confident that under the watchful eye of President Akufo-Addo the QGMI will use the state of the art materials and technology that would stand the test of time. “This
expanded airport would serve the whole of mother Ghana and the neighboring countries and should put Ghana in top position to take advantage of the African continental free trade. The headquarters of which is to be established in Ghana”. He said

The Overlord of Dagbon reiterates that, just like the beginning of the phase one under former President John Mahama, the chiefs and people of Dagbon will give contractors of the project the maximum support.

“While I commend your excellency and the government for the work been done, we have other challenging issues of infrastructure of which I need to remind you, notable among this; the need to complete the eastern corridor road project, the upgrade and expansion of the Yendi hospital, the Yendi Saboba road, the Yendi Cheriponi road, the rest include Tamale Nantong-Karaga road, the Nyankpala- Gbulung Kumbungu road, and Yendi Zabzugu Taltali road. Also of concern is the lack of sustainable potable water for the residents of Yendi, Tamale and its surrounding communities and many others across the region and we have heard reports of steps to address this problem, I hope the action would be expediently dealt on”.

The Northern Regional Minister, Hon Salifu Saeed noted that, President  Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo who have been christened  by the people of Dagbon  as Abudani “once again demonstrate not by words but by deliverables, delicacy deliverables, projects that are of national and international character, projects that are coming to fight poverty and bring equitable development to every Ghanaian”.

He noted that, the performance of the funeral rites of the two overlords of Dagbon and other peaceful initiatives by President Akufo-Addo have paved way for several infrastructure development to take place in the region:

“ you go to Tamale market people use to seat by each other without talking to each other due to Abudu and Andani, but now they talk, share food and even loan each other money but in the past it wasn’t possible, so what you (President) have done, you are even letting them to give each other micro credit and with time they won’t even need micro finance organization”.
He noted that, President Akufo-Addo legacy in the region and Ghana will continue rein forever.

The German ambassador to Ghana in his speech said, Germany government consider the project one of the major and most important infrastructure project in Ghana, “ and we are happy and proud to support this project with a $80 loan from the German development bank KFW together with our partner from the UK and Spanish construction company”.

He said, the project is also extremely important for the people of Ghana especially for the people of northern region saying, the project will boost the economic development in northern Ghana with all it’s agricultural potential.

The extended airport facility according to him will link Tamale and the northern region closer to the world, adding that, the project when completed will make it easier for the agricultural products to reach their destination in the world.

“and it would serve as a better connecting hub for West Africa and the rest of the world.

The Germany Ambassador commended the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for launching the project to improve economic development in Ghana.

The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo describes the Yaa Naa as a symbol of peace in Dagbon and assure the Dagbon Overlord and the people of his government commitment to bring the needed development to Ghanaians.

“Yaa Naa, am delighted once again at your presence here and I assure you that this project is a sign of greater things to come for Tamale and the Northern Region and indeed for the whole nation. Government commitment to the development of all parts of Ghana without discrimination is absolute. President Akufo-Addo said, the expansion of this project of this airport, is the critical part of government vision to expand the frontiers of the aviation industry in the country and to realize the dream of making Ghana an aviation hub in West Africa.
He said, the construction of an ultra modern terminal building together with a multi purpose hajj facility and other ancillary facilities would provide the needed facilities for the increase of economic and trading activities and will reinforce the status of Tamale as the sub Saharan hub for flights to and from neighboring West African countries and the Sahel regions.

According to the President, the Tamale international airport when completed would also serve as a complement to the Accra kotoka international airport. Significantly, it is also expected with the completion of this project, would make Tamale the center of hajj related activities in the country and would facilitate serious travels from Ghana directly to Saudi Arabia for the pilgrimage to Mecca.

President Akufo-Addo in his two day official tour to the Northern Region also cut-sod for major construction projects including, construction of Smock Village in Gushegu, construction of the Bimbilla – Salaga road, construction of Kpandai Salaga road and the Inspections of Water projects in Gushegu and Saboba.
Mr. Akufo-Addo  in Wulensi, Nanumba South district again handover Agricultural Machinery under the Agricultural Mechanization Program to boost the agric sector.

The Phase Two Briefs:

The second face of the Tamale airport project estimated with the cost of some 70m United States dollars is scheduled to be completed in 30 months, it will encompass the following elements;Design for the scope of works,
Construction of a modular airport terminal building of approximately 5000sqm which is expandable in the future, Construction of a hajj facility of approximately 1000sqms, Construction of a single carriage way access road, Construction of land size and air size infrastructure adopted to the terminal size
And construction of water, power and sewage infrastructure deem necessary for normal operations.
Funding for this project is been secured made possible by facility UK expo finance and KFWIPs bank of Germany for which we are grateful.
A vast globalization is been proceed for payment of the contractors in 30 months.
