The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Constituency Executives in the Northern Region has vehemently condemned calls by some youth group within the rank and file of party asking the current regional Chairman of the party to relocate to the new created North-East Region.
Since the creation of the North-East Region, some youth of the party have been making calls on Chairman Adam Samba to relocate to his native hometown Nalerigu, capital of the North-East Region, a demand several party bigwigs and youth rejected out-rightly describing it as purely tribalistic and nepotism moves.
At a press confab at the Regional Party Headquarters, Tamale, to re-echo their earlier stands, all constituency executives from the 17 Constituencies in the region said, the Regional Chairman of the party was overwhelmingly endorsed by them to lead the party to more political victories.
The NPP constituency executives hinted that, delegates of the party have not regretted for endorsing Mr. Chairman Adam Samba to lead, saying that, Mr. Samba have done tremendously well in building the cohesiveness of the rank and file of the party.
They said, Chairman Samba is currently the most popular political figure in the region, who have made several strides in making the party more popular and attractive in the region.
Speaking on behalf of the NPP Constituency Executives, the Tamale South constituency Secretary, Mr. Yussif Danjumah said, Chairman Samba will continue his four year mandate as the leader of the party in the region, added that, Mr. Chairman Samba has brought so much energy and trust in the party’s leadership.
“The Northern regional chairman caucus and on behalf of all seventeen (17) constituency executives of the newly created Northern region, would like to reiterate our support and endorsement for the stay of the current Northern regional chairman, Adam Baantima Samba Samba”. He said
“We have leaved with chairman Samba in the region for the past 36 years and counting and believe he is capable and competent to handle the region into the next crucial election”.
The Tamale Constituency Secretary said, agenda 22 parliamentary seats promised by the Philanthropist Chairman of the party is still on course, reiterating that, most of the campaign promise made by Chairman Samba has been fulfilled. .
“We as constituency executives would like to appeal to our respected national executive’s council, to listen to our plea as custodians of the constituencies so we can sustain and improve our fortunes in the Northern region. We voted for our chairman because we believe he can. The chairman in his few weeks in office sustained and maintained the otherwise unstable region. He has manage to heal more wounds and brought a lot onboard who were left out for obvious reasons”.
“We appeal for calm and cooperation as we dialogue consistently with our regional chairman to patch up the few hitches before the upcoming 2020 elections”.
Some youth group, and unfazed members of the governing party have stage protest to oust chairman Samba as the northern regional chairman. According to them chairman Samba is selective, and not registered voter in the region.
