Central Gonja to witness massive infrastructure development in 2019

The Central Gonja District have organised a Community Meeting to bring Governance closer to the doorsteps of the people. The Community Engagement saw almost all communities in the Kusawgu Traditional Area attending.

Addressing the Chiefs and People of the Kusawgu traditional area, the District Chief Executive for the Central Gonja District, Hon Mustapha Mahama assured the people of the district of government’s resolution to bring massive infrastructure development to the people of the district and for that matter, the Kusawgu traditional area.

He said governance is a continuous process and never an event. According to him, the previous NDC government started the construction of the Kusawgu-Tulewe road. Even though, much was not done on that project. He said the New Patriotic Party under His Excellency, President Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo Addo who he represents today, promise that very soon, they will see a contractor back to the site.

*One Village, One Dam*

On the One Village, One Dam initiative, contracts have awarded to some various construction firms and in no time, the people will see the contractors at site. The Central Gonja District was allocated with 10 communities for the start.

*One District, One Factory*

On the One District, One Factory (1D1F) policy initiative, the Central Gonja have identified not less than two factories and work have begun steadily with some consultants, investors and financial institutions to fast track the development and was hopefully before the end of 2019 factories would be physically seen as all the negotiations and software aspect of construction have been discussed and approval given by the Ministry of Trade and Industry.

The Hon District Chief Executive noted that, shortage of portable water was a bigger challenge in the district and thereby, disclosed that, a number of boreholes have been drilled to complement water supply in the area. He also revealed that, plans are far advanced to extend the Fulfuso-Ntereso water plant to Buipe, Yapei, Kusawgu and their surroundings to ease the annual perennial water crisis in the district.

The DCE also mentioned employment drive in the district. According to him, seventy five permanent Teaching and Non Teaching Staff have been employed in the district to boost teaching and learning in the education sector of the district. Under the Nation Builders Corps (NABCo) programme, 350 trainees have been recruited and posted to the district to assist in the Digitised Ghana, Heal Ghana, Educate Ghana, Civic Ghana, Revenue Ghana, Feed Ghana and Enterprise Ghana modules.IMG-20181026-WA0001

He further urged the youth to take advantage of the conducive environment created by government to get themselves something doing.

Kusawgu-Wura Sulemana Ewuntogmah Kunkariga, the Paramount Chief of the Kusawgu Traditional Area on behalf of his Elders and Subjects assured government and for that matter the DCE of their commitment to collaborate with government and the assembly to bring development to the doorsteps of the people.

He used the forum to urged his people to come out in their numbers on 27th December, 2018 to vote massively when the Electoral Commission of would be organizing the referendum on the creation of the Savanna region.

He appealed for a massive endorsement of their petition send to His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo Addo to facilitate the creation of the region. Anim Mohammed (Central Gonja District Information Service Department)
