An aide to the maverick NPP Northern Regional Chairman, Mr. Simak Shiraz popularly known as S.K has been branded a liar for purporting that H.E. President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo has given a directive to MMDCEs to support his boss in the impending NPP Regional elections slated on Saturday 28th April 2018.

The incumbent NPP Chairman, Mr. Bugri Naabu is seeking re-election with other four contenders, including the current Regional Orgainser and Regional NADMO Coordinator Alhaji Abdallah Hindu, Alhaji Mugisu Sibawey, Alhaji Amadu Inusah Dagomba Boy current constituency Chairman for Yendi and Mr. Mohammed Baatimah Adam Samba, chairman of patrons of the party.

Mr. S.K speaking in the media stated that, a directive has been given to all MMDCEs by the President to lend support to his boss, Mr. Bugri Naabu to retain his seat.

According to him, the directive was given to the Northern Regional Minister, Hon Salifu Sa-eed who subsequently conveyed the message to all MMDCEs in the region at a retreat “meeting” in Damongo.

“Two months ago there was a meeting in Damongo. The regional minister took all the districts and municipal chief executives to have a meeting. And after the meeting, the regional minister told them what the president told him”. He was quoted by the media

“You (the host) can call him (regional minister) and ask him why did the president tells him that, if Bugri Naabu loses, that, most of them are likely to lose their positions”.

“And it was a duty on him to make sure the president message is being carried across… After the meeting, all the DCEs move to chairman Bugri Naabu’s residence, to tell him all of them are going to pledge their support to him… Some of them don’t want him but they cannot go against the will of the president”.  Mr. S.K was quoted by the media

But, Mr. Alidu Abdul Rahaman Aberey, a special aide to the Northern Regional Minister reiterated that, Mr. S.K claims are very deceitful and should not be countenance by the party.

He believed that, the aide to the incumbent NPP Chairman is strategically using the Minister’s name as a propaganda tool to divide the good people of the party.

He however admitted that, both the Minister and some MMMDCEs visited the maverick chairman after a retreat from Damongo but the Minister never conveyed any message from the President to Mr. Bugri Naabu as his special aide sought to suggest.

A deep-rooted source at the Presidency describes the purported president’s directive as pure malice and lies that has the tendency to divide the party.

According to him, there was no such directive by the president, adding that, President Akufo-Addo has no candidates and has no hands in who became what in the party’s internal elections.

“The delegates of the party have the ultimate responsibility to choose who they wants to lead them, they are the king makers and not the President”. He stated

He said, the president has no such power to twist delegates’ hands to vote for some candidates, “It is not the ways of President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo. A lot of people have been using the name of the President in their campaigns because his wield so much influence in the party but he has no candidate. He supports everybody and wishes all well”.
