The Bunkprugu-Yunyo District Chief Executive nominee in the Northern region,Mr. John.K Alhassan abysmal second rejection by members of the assembly have been associated to the conduct of the Northern regional chairman of the governing party.
Mr John K Alhassan suffered a crashing rejection by total number of eighteen (18) votes, representing 37.5% against rejection votes of thirty(30) representing 62.5%.
The failed nominee after his appointment three weeks ago was accused by members of the New Patriotic Party(Npp) in the area of campaigning for the opposition National Democratic Congress in the 2016 general elections, which the regional chairman being his uncle refused to restrain and call him to order.
The youth also claimed the nominee did not merit the appointment, but was been impose to the area by the regional chairman, Abdul Fatawu Bugri Naabu, politically known as Chairman ‘double double’.
Speaking to the media with disappointment written on their faces further blamed the chairman and his stalwarts of playing tribal lines prior to the confirmation scheduled day, And his continues unsubstantiated allegations against the regional minister and his deputy.
They enumerated that “Prior to today’s failed confirmation, our MP, Hon Solomon and the minister were seen working as expected appealing to the assembly members to accept the nominee, and not disgrace the appointing authority this time around, today as you can see both of them were visible at the conference hall just to facilitate the confirmation of Mr Alhassan, did you see the chairman here, but he goes round accusing the minister of not supporting the nominee, and also accuses people who are not Konkombas of sabotaging the nominee.” They lamented.
The conference hall of the assembly was heavily under guard by a joint security forces to averte any insecurity situations.
In attendance was the the Chief Administrator of the region, Alhaji Salifu Sa-eed, his deputy, Hon Solomon Boar, Traditional rulers, Constituency Executives and passed assembly members.
