A New Patriotic Party (NPP) youth group by name Friends of Farouk Aliu Mahama (FOFAM) has come out to strongly rally behind Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama, son of the former Vice president of Ghana, the late Alhaji Aliu Mahama as MP for Yendi constituency come 2020.

According to them, Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama possesses all the qualities required of a good leader, which makes him their surest bet as Member of Parliament (MP) for Yendi constituency come 2020 elections.

Following a disclosure made by the incumbent Member of Parliament for the Yendi constituency, Hon. Mohammed Habib Tijani expressing his disinterest in contesting for the second time round as MP for the constituency come 2020, Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama’s name has popped up as the potential successor.

The group explained that being a Member of Parliament is a case of service to the people, and Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama has over the years done just that, adding that, he has also energized the New Patriotic Party in the constituency through some of his fundamental interventions.

The Friends of Farouk Aliu Mahama (FOFAM) group described Alhaji Farouk as a man connected to the Yendi constituency in many ways, and has over the years offered critical support to people of the Yendi area in diverse forms which has been of great help to them.

They said that Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama has made personal financial commitments for the running of the NPP in Yendi. They disclosed that the constituency office receives Ghc 2000 monthly from Alhaji Farouk to administer the party in the constituency, and electoral areas of the party receive Ghc 2000 from him to solidify the base of the party in the constituency.

FOFAM also mentioned that as part of helping citizenry of the Yendi constituency to be informed and educated about issues that hinges on development and betterment of the people, Alhaji Farouk has donated Ghc 20,000 to the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation to open a substation for the people of Yendi.

The group while elaborating on some developmental steps taken by Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama in the constituency, said that “As a strategy to help create employment for the Women of Yendi, Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama supported training of women in the area in soap making as an employment opportunity and also as a source of income”.

“The youth of Yendi received various sports materials from Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama who believes that sports among the youth can promote unity and development. The youth says this was very thoughtful of a man who cares for peace and progress of the Yendi constituency and think that such a person when made their Member of Parliament would do even more for them. The NPP in Yendi has also received lots of party paraphernalia from Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama to create visibility and excitement in the area, which has been described as unprecedented by party youth and elders of Yendi”

The Friends of Farouk Aliu Mahama (FOFAM) group has stated emphatically that they will continue serializing some of the good things done by Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama for the Yendi constituency as part of the campaign scheme.
